Markus Frind was an average man who had a strong interest in computer programming. He began blogging in 2003 about his programming endeavors, one of which was the creation of the dating website “Plenty of Fish”. He worked on the website during his free time from his modest Vancouver, Canada apartment.
Markus Frind, the CEO of Plenty of Fish Media Inc., started the company in 2003 and received his diploma in computer systems technology from British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1999.The Plenty of Fish website could be seen in a number of music videos in 2010: those for “Telephone” by Lady Gaga, “Touch” by Natasha Bedingfield, “We R Who We R” by Ke$ha, “Available” by Flo Rida and Akon, “Ridin’ Solo” by Jason Derulo, and “Double Vision” by 3OH!3. Plenty of Fish was purchased by Match Group, a Dallas, Texas-based company that also owns Match.com, OkCupid, Tinder, and Hinge, for $575 million on July 14, 2015. The headquarters have recently undergone expansion and are still located in Vancouver.

Technical information

Microsoft-based technologies, such as IIS, ASP.NET, and Microsoft SQL, are used by Plenty of Fish.

ASP.NET

A server-side framework for web applications called ASP.NET was created specifically for web developers to create dynamic webpages. Microsoft created it so that programmers could create dynamic websites, apps, and services. Active Server Pages Network Enabled Technologies is what the name stands for.
Version 1.0 of the.NET Framework was first released with it in January 2002, and it replaced Microsoft’s Active Server Pages (ASP) technology. Because ASP.NET is based on the Common Language Runtime (CLR), programmers can use any supported.NET language to write ASP.NET code. ASP.NET components can process SOAP messages thanks to the ASP.NET SOAP extension framework.Microsoft released ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET’s replacement, in 2016. Together with other frameworks, this new version reimplements ASP.NET as a modular web framework.

Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft created the proprietary relational database management system known as Microsoft SQL Server (Structured Query Language). It is a software product known as a database server, and its main job is to store and retrieve data when other software applications ask for it. These applications can run on the same computer or on a different computer connected to a network, including the Internet. Microsoft offers at least twelve distinct versions of Microsoft SQL Server, each tailored to a distinct market and suitable for a range of workloads, from small, single-machine programs to massive, multi-user Internet-facing systems.

Energy-over-fiber

With power-over-fiber, or PoF, technology, optical power is carried by a fiber-optic cable and used as an energy source instead of or in addition to data transmission. In addition to offering electrical isolation between the device and the power source, this enables remote powering of devices. These devices can be used to shield the power supply from harmful voltages, like those caused by lightning, or to stop the supply’s voltage from setting off explosives. Power over fiber could also be helpful in settings or applications where it’s crucial to prevent the electromagnetic fields produced by electricity passing through copper wire, like around sensitive military equipment or around delicate sensors.
